The recently launched Christian Louboutin nail lacquers made a splash before they could even be found on the shelves of your favorite department stores.  The announcement of the highly anticipated polishes was met with great excitement as this was the first beauty launch for the brand that has made its name creating the sexiest heels a woman can own.  I, like many of you, awaited the launch of the 31 beautifully colored polishes and fell in love with the great design the second I saw them.  I am particularly excited about the “The Noirs” collection offering dark tones made up of greens, blues and reds perfect for the autumn/winter seasons.

Not only does the product come beautifully packaged with hand crafted glass bottles inspired by historic European architecture but the color options offered in each collection are well thought out, vibrant and on par with the attention to detail given to each Louboutin heel.  The paint brushes are custom designed with a patented triangular brush said to be inspired by calligraphy and are designed to pick up the right amount of product without creating any air bubbles on the nails.

What is really intriguing about these polishes is that they were formulated without the use of toluene, formaldehyde or DBP making them less toxic than many of the nail brands out there.  Oh and did I mention, they’re gluten free?! Although I’m not exactly sure why you’d care if your nail polish is gluten free, I like the idea that they gave consumers that option.

So what’s stopping me from taking the plunge and picking up a few of these lacquers?  Well, simply put, it’s the price.  When it comes to spending, I tend to think in terms of ‘what else’ as in, what else could I purchase with this amount of money?  $50 is a lot to spend on one bottle of polish no matter how incredibly luxe it’s said to be.  So, for now, I’ll stare longingly at these polishes from afar as they stay on my beauty wish list.
