Getting Fit With YouTube

Happy Wednesday everyone! Over the past month, I’ve gotten quite serious about my fitness. In an effort to stay fit and healthy, I’ve joined a gym (and have been attending regularly) and have become mindful of what I eat.  Of course, not having a background in fitness has meant seeking knowledgeable resources elsewhere.  Fortunately for me, the gym I joined offers complimentary personal training sessions but surprisingly, I’ve found YouTube to be one of the best resources out there for getting healthy and staying fit.  So, I thought I’d share with you the videos that I’ve found most helpful in toning and strengthening my body.

Lose Belly Fat: First up is this informative video that changed my perspective on ab workouts. Instead of doing a 30 minute ab workout 2-3 times per week, I now focus on building muscle and working out my entire body.

Abs: This is a great workout for strengthening and toning abdominal muscles.  Since my focus has now shifted to building muscle, I find this to be a great routine to do twice a week.

Arms: This is a short and effective workout for those seeking to tone and strengthen their arms.  This routine is great when done 3-4 times per week.

Butt and Thighs: I’ve never been too concerned about my thigh and bum area because well, I’m Ghanaian so I can’t escape the extra I’ve got back there.  I added this workout to my routine because it feels great to get through it. I’m not going to lie, this routine kills me each and every single time.  It’s a tough one but will certainly yield results! If you’re interested in toning your butt and thighs then this is the perfect workout video for you.

Keep in mind that in addition to the strength training above, I also add at least 30 minutes of cardio to my routine.  While I do hope to lose a few of the extra pounds I’ve gained over the years (I’m already down 5 lbs since starting 5 weeks ago!), my main goal is to strengthen and tone my body while leading a healthier lifestyle.
