Anyone who knows me knows that my absolute favorite season is Fall. As a still new, New Yorker, I love taking time to explore as many sights and activities and as possible during this season. A few weeks ago, we had the most amazing fall weather in the city. It was 65℉ and sunny, exactly the kind of weather needed to enjoy so much of the incredible outdoor activities the city has to offer. A friend and I decided we had to take advantage of the beautiful weather. We decided on a leisurely stroll through some of our favorite Manhattan neighborhoods. I was set to head out, in a typical all-black ensemble when I thought to grab a jacket just in case it got a little colder in the evening. As I was searching through my closet, a nearly forgotten cape I’d purchased for an absolute steal caught my eye.

The moment I threw on the cape, it transformed my look. I went from a casual all-black outfit (black jeans, sneakers, and turtleneck), to an elevated ensemble. With the addition of the cape, I knew I had to elevate the rest of my outfit. And into my mind pop this cute little Christopher Kane top. A recent purchase, I knew this crop top with a splash of color was exactly what my cape needed. The cape allowed me to show off the dash of color the latest addition to my wardrobe offered while providing a bit of warmth should I need it. To complete the look, I swapped my black sneakers for an equally comfortable pair of black booties and grabbed a much small crossbody bag.

The Cape

I purchased this cape last summer during one of Zara’s huge end of season sales. I tried it on and immediately felt it added an element of sophistication and style to my outfit. Not to mention it was a steal at nearly 70% off! I didn’t have many occasions to wear the cape after I purchased it.  I’ve reached for it several times since the beginning of the fall season.

This little cape number turned my everyday outfit into a style moment. The outfit felt like the perfect representation of my style sensibilities in the city. A last-minute decision to add a nearly forgotten cape turned out to be one of my favorite style moments of the season!
