One of my favorite new discoveries has been the Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow Custom Palette Case.  I came across these a few months ago while searching for a simple way to transport a few of my favorite shadows while traveling.  This simple solution allows me to carry the shades I will need to create several looks and the slim case leaves room for more in my makeup bag.  My favorite is the empty trio compact. With two of these, I can carry six versatile shadows and create everything from a smokey eye to my everyday shadow.  The magnetic backing keeps the shadows firmly in place but the shadows are easily removed and replaced with another shade if I so choose.

Having the ability to customize my own palette is very important to me. I tend to avoid purchasing pre-selected eye shadow palettes because I find that the majority of the shades do not compliment my skin tone (think Lupita Nyong’o or Viola Davis) limiting my use of the palette.
