One of the best ways to recoup from a long and stressful week at the office is by enjoying an evening filled with good drinks, great conversation and even better friends. It also doesn’t hurt when you’re able to do so in a cost-effective manner. That’s when my beloved happy hour comes into play. For those of you unaware of this amazing event, happy hour is the period of day in which bars and restaurants around the country offer great deals on beverages and yummy eats (seriously, there is no excuse not to partake in happy hour), typically between the hours of 4 and 6 pm. It’s the perfect time to connect with friends and officially begin the weekend festivities. To make a quick exit from the office to happy hour in style, it’s best to build upon work appropriate garments. Since fall is the season for the trench, adding a simple and chic dress such as this Cameo ‘The Motion’ Dress ($150) to a classic trench such as this Burberry Long Grosgrain Detail Gabardine Trench Coat ($1,695), similar here ($169), will allow for a quick and easy accessories swap to welcome the evening. If it gets a little nippy during the day or in the evenings, adding thin sheer tights can keep you warm without sacrificing style.

To easily transition this office attire to happy hour chic, simply replacing a few key accessories (which will be hidden in your work tote of course). This look simply builds upon the basic trench and dress by adding a statement necklace, chic clutch and killer shoes.
