Although spring and summer have come and gone, it can be a bit difficult to completely abandon garments typically worn during the warmer months once autumn rolls around. This is why it’s important to build a ‘transition weather’ wardrobe. Transition weather refers to the period of time in which temperatures begin to change making the current seasons garments not suitable for the weather. I personally love wearing warm weather clothing such as shorts and skirts well into the colder seasons yet finding the right way in which to sport these favorites can be a bit tricky. As we’re currently transitioning from crop tops to down filled jackets, it’s time to stash away those linen and jean shorts in favor of materials more suitable for the cooler temps. I’ve found that tweed, leather and classically made shorts, when paired with sheer tights or thick leggings for extra warmth, are great options for your transition weather wardrobe. This post will give you a few ideas on how to wear shorts in the fall.
Leather
RED Valentino – Cuff Leather Shorts
French Connection – Cult Connection Faux Leather Shorts
Tweed
Rag & Bone – Florencia High-Waist Tweed Shorts
ASOS – Tweed Shorts (currently sold out)
The Letter – Tweed High-Rise Shorts
Classic
Tory Burch – Tilda Polka Dot Shorts
French Connection – Croc Luxe Mini Shorts
Alice + Olivia – High-Waisted Lace Shorts
I also love the pairing of shorts with over-the-knee boots. When done well (think fashion runways, not red light district), this can be a classy and chic way to rock a few trends in the fall.
