My ‘Rent The Runway’ Experience

Happy Wednesday everyone! Although this is a week overdue, I wanted to write about my Rent The Runway experience as I mentioned on last Monday’s blog post.  Last Monday, I mentioned attending my cousin’s wedding in Bethpage, New York.  I wore a beautiful Badgley Mischka that I rented from Rent The Runway after an old friend mentioned that she was considering using their services.  I’ve known about Rent The Runway for years but have never considered using their services until I absolutely needed. My Rent The Runway ExperienceAfter delaying my dress search for quite some time, I desperately needed to find a dress for the wedding.  I spent an afternoon going from store to store, trying on a wide variety of dresses.  From long and short, simple and formal, sequined, patterned, you name it, I tried it.  I narrowed it down to a few contenders (shown below).
My Rent The Runway ExperienceAlthough these were great options, I knew I wouldn’t have very many opportunities to wear these dresses in the near future.

The Service: Rent the runway is an online services that allows for consumers to rent designer apparel and accessories.  While I’ve known of the company since it’s launch in 2009, this was my first experience utilizing their services.  It wasn’t until an old friend mentioned considering using the service that I decided to check out what they had to offer in the formal wear department.  This Badgley Mishka dress immediately stood out to me and I knew it’d be perfect for the wedding.

My 'Rent The Runway' ExperienceA photo of me in the elevator at the end of the night.  I changed from heels to flats and clearly had a great time in this dress.  I can’t tell you how many compliments I received while wearing this dress in Manhattan after the wedding.

The Rental: For just $35, I was able to rent the dress for 4 days, returning it before noon the day it was due without hassle.  The dress arrived mid-afternoon in a black garment bag.

Minor Quibble:  While the service advertises a 4 day rental, that period also includes the day you receive the dress and the day it is due (the dress must be in a UPS box before noon on the day it’s due).  This means you really only have two days with the dress particularly if it’s delivered later in the day.  Why is this an issue?  Well if like me you plan on traveling with the garment, then you have to carefully plan the arrival of the dress around the day of the event and the final return date.

Final Thoughts:  I will certainly utilize the services of Rent The Runway for future events.  The service was simple to use, prices reasonable and I was very happy with the quality of the garment I received.  I will certainly recommend you try Rent The Runway as well.

Thank you so much for reading! Be sure to visit the blog of Friday for another great post!

All the best,
