Happy Friday everyone! Today I thought I’d share with you 10 inexpensive summer beauty favorites of mine.  These items are easily found online or in your nearest drugstore and they are all $10 or less! Be sure to let me know your favorite summer budget beauty items.

10 Summer Beauty Buys Under $10

1) L’Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara – $8.95

As I’ve mentioned before, I love mascaras equipped with comb out wand that can evenly coat each lash while separating and lengthening my short, curly lashes.  The plastic combed bristles of this brush are great for just that.  I find it to be both a great formula and even better wand quickly making this one of my go to mascaras for all occasions.

2) Yes to Tomatoes Activated Charcoal Bar Soap – $7

This is a great product for removing the impurities that can clog your pores during the hot and humid summer months.  The activated charcoal and salicylic acid in this soap helps detoxify and balance the skin leaving it thoroughly clean.

3) Essie Apricot Cuticle Oil – $8.59

This is one of my must have products during the summer months.  I find myself painting and changing my nail polish colors much more often in the summer months.  I’m mindful of the drying effects of nail polish removers and provide my cuticles with some tlc everyday with this cuticle oil.  ‘Rock the boat’ is a perfect shade to add to my growing Essie collection for the summer.

4) L’Oréal Infallible Eye Shadow – $7.99

I love the price of these eye shadows.  Not only are there a great variety of colors to choose from but they are also beautifully pigmented and last throughout the day.

5) Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm – $3-$5

Lip moisturizers are a staple beauty item throughout the year and since I tend to wear a wide variety of brightly colored lip products during the summer, keeping my lips smooth and moisturized is especially important for photo ready results.

6) Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask – $6.99

This is a favorite of mine all year round but I especially love using it during the summer months when needing to protect my hair from the sun, chlorinated pools and dips in the ocean.  This product will leave your hair feeling soft, smooth and tangle free.

7) Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes – $6

These cleansing towelettes are great to have around for several reasons.  They can be used to break down makeup before cleansing and to keep your skin fresh and clean on no-makeup days.  I also love to use them to spot clean my brushes when I simply don’t have the time to thoroughly cleanse and dry them.

8) Burt’s Bees Natural Acne Solutions Targeted Spot Treatment – $10

If you skin is anything like mine, the change in weather often brings a change in your skin.  I tend to experience spots and breakouts during the summer and this product certainly comes in handy.

9) Yes to Tomatoes Activated Charcoal Bar Soap – $7

This is a great product for removing the impurities that can clog your pores during the hot and humid summer months.  The activated charcoal and salicylic acid in this soap helps detoxify and balance the skin leaving it thoroughly clean.

9) OPI RapiDry Top Coat – $1.99-$10

For a truly quick drying top coat that won’t chip after a few days, I recommend topping off your at-home manis and pedis with OPIs RapiDry.  This quickly dries to a matte finish that will leave your nails impressive for days.  I’ve found it on Amazon for $1.99 and at Nordstrom Rack for $10.

10) Revlon Colorburst – $6.89

It’s clear I love these lip products as I’ve mentioned them quite a few times on the blog (here and here).  From matte balms to stains and lacquers, these chubby sticks are easy to use and provide a good amount of color making them great summer beauty items.

Thank you for reading everyone!

With the Hollywood awards season beginning this week (the People’s Choice awards were televised on Wednesday and the Golden Globes are this Sunday!), I thought a post demonstrating how I prepare for an important event would be apropos.  As you may know from previous posts, I prefer to keep things simple, focusing on the basics of skin care.  Beginning a week prior to the event date, I am diligent about the use of the items listed below.

Getting Ready For An Important Event

Clarisonic – I purchased my Clarisonic Mia 2 about two years ago and used it consistently for about 2 months before I simply got a little lazy with it.  With a renewed focus on my skin’s health, I recently began using my Clarisonic 2-3 times a week.  In addition to a thorough cleanse, I love the light exfoliation I receive with this device and have noticed an improvement in my skin texture with consistent use alternating between the deep pore and normal brush heads.

Hint: I purchased quite a few brush heads on Groupon about a year ago.  I received 4 for the price of 1 ($25) so keep an eye out for future deals!

Face Mask – With my combination normal/dry skin, I find it very important to hydrate my skin, replenishing its parched moisture reserves with a bit of outside help.  The Origins Drink Up Intensive does a great job of accomplishing just that.  This incredibly moisturizing mask will leave your skin feeling soft with a fresh and youthful appearance.

Eye Cream – As a preventive measure, I use a simple anti-aging eye cream on a daily basis.  For special events, I like to switch things up by incorporating a hydrating eye cream into my skin care regime. Using a hydrating eye cream the week leading up to an event leaves my under eye area looking bright and refreshed.  The Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado is one of my favorites.

Cuticle Oil – Of course, beautifully manicured nails are always a must for my final look.  To help keep my manicure looking fresh and professional, I use the Essie Apricot Cuticle Oil in conjunction with Vitamin E Oil to keep my cuticles hydrated.

Hint: If you’d like skip the cuticle oil, try giving your hands, feet and cuticles a little TLC by applying an ample amount of your regular moisturizer a few times daily, particularly before bedtime.

Lip Scrub + Moisturizer – It’s easy to neglect the lips when preparing for an event but this small feature can have a big impact on ones overall appearance.  I suggest gently exfoliating your lips with a soft wash cloth, using small circular motions, the night before an important event taking care to amply moisturize as well.  This will ensure even and smooth application of any lip products and of course a beautiful frame for those pearly whites.  For a simple, easily available lip balm, try the EOS Sweet Mint lip balm, this is truly one of my favorite lip moisturizers as exemplified by this post.

Note:  Although it isn’t a beauty item, I’ve found that increasing my water intake results in visible improvements in my skin and overall health.  Recently, I’ve committed to drinking at least 64 fl. oz of water a day (the recommended daily amount) beginning my day with a glass of warm lemon water.

From recent launches to cult favorites, I’m always on the look out for products that will not only promise to produce the skin care results I seek but actually deliver on said promises.  As evidenced by my previous skin care posts (here, here and here), I find it best to focus my energy and resources on my skin with the understanding that healthy skin is the best foundation on which to build upon.  Healthy skin provides a great canvas on which to apply makeup and let’s be honest, I feel great when my skin looks great.  Below are a few beauty items, each loved by consumers, currently on my wish list.

Note: As you’ll notice, the products featured in today’s post are either 100% natural or organic and are produced by companies dedicated to using toxic free ingredients.  The explanation for this is simple, I strive to live a green/toxic free life as much as possible.  This is a choice that I have made for myself and I certainly don’t wish to impose my decision/beliefs on anyone else.  These are great products for anyone.

Juara - Candlenut Body Creme

1. Juara – Candlenut Body Creme ($35)

I absolutely love body moisturizers particularly butters and cremes.  This rich body cream is made with a mixture of candlenut, avocado, and rice brain oils as well as illipe butter for a nourishing treatment from head to toe.  I’ve never heard of many of these naturally derived ingredients but they combine to make this luxurious body cream on the top of my wish list.

Éminence - Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum

2. Éminence – Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum ($45)

After years of reading rave reviews from celebrities in beauty magazines, I’ve decided to see what all the fuss over the Éminence Organic Skin Care line is about.  One of the line’s best sellers, this light serum is said to replenish and hydrate dry skin, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles.

The Organic Pharmacy - Antioxidant Face Cream

3. The Organic Pharmacy – Antioxidant Face Cream ($95)

This Antioxidant Face Cream has been on my beauty wish list for quite some time, actually, the entire line of Organic Pharmacy products has been on my wish list for years.  Though its limited availability here in the States has made it difficult to try, this item shall remain on my beauty wish list for the great reviews it receives.

100 Percent Pure - Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream

4. 100% Pure – Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream ($21)

A naturally derived eye cream to help combat dark circles and puffiness? Sign me up!  Consumers agree that this product is not only moisturizing but effective in combating dark circles and puffiness making it a must try.

Jurlique - Intense Recovery Mask

5. Jurlique – Intense Recovery Mask ($76)

Jurlique is a brand known and loved for years with products found on many “best of” lists. This mask would be a great addition to any skin care regime this winter, particularly for those with normal to dry skin looking for a moisture boost during the colder months.
